In an effort to get back in hiking shape for some upcoming trips, I've been making a point to get out on the trail more often. When I was getting in shape for Half Dome, I was hiking every week!
So I did a quick hike up to Sandstone Peak, the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. Oddly enough, the peak isn't sandstone at all, but red volcanic rock. It was a beautiful day and a good workout hike.
And the views! You can see all the way out to the ocean in one direction, and to Mt. Baldy in the other, not to mention great city views.
